Macro underwater footage from my 2017 visit to Raja Ampat, Indonesia, where sea fans the size of cars are home to seahorses the size of rice grains. It’s a magical place where thousands of fish species find homes among psychedelic coral gardens, and mantas, sharks and whales circle volcanic pinnacles. Despite threats from overfishing, pollution and climate change, this epicenter of marine biodiversity is thriving and locals are working hard to protect it, renewing my hope that reefs can still be saved if we act quickly.
