Rangers are the first, and sometimes only, line of defense between poachers and the world’s most iconic species.
A recent survey found that 63% of rangers have faced a life threatening situation.
Many of these brave men and women not only work in dangerous and harsh conditions, they often do so with low pay, little or no support and inadequate equipment. Lots of rangers spend weeks away from their loved ones and some do not have access to electricity or clean drinking water whilst on patrol.
If we want iconic species - tigers, rhinos and elephants - in the future, we need rangers.
But we also need to give rangers the support, tools and training they need to protect wildlife.
